Two of the Hours of Service rules about driver restarts were temporarily suspended in December pending further study. The suspension of these rules is in effect until September 30, 2015.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is asking drivers to participate in the Hours of Service Driver Restart Study. The study will compare
fatigue and safety performance levels. This issue has large implications on the profitability of the trucking industry.
Study participants are paid for their time.
