I am a proud member of the Ocean City Running Club.Recently, the president named me Welcome Chair for the club.I have been tasked with the wonderful responsibility of welcoming newcomers to our club, which I love doing.I definitely understand the anxiety that comes with taking on a new habit or routine as I joined the club before I could run a full mile.I hope that I can provide a warm, encouraging face for all new runners. We welcome all levels of running and walking. We range from members who pace a 6/7 minute mile to a 11/12 minute mile.I personally started my running journey at a 13/14 minute mile and was welcomed with open arms.
Ocean City Running Club was formed by a group of friends who wanted to run together a little over four years ago. The mission of the group is simply to provide fun motivation for those who want to get out there and run or walk. We love walkers too! Within a short period of time, the club’s growth has far surpassed that small group. Now we have a 6 member Board of Directors to keep us on track. Our group officially meets on Wednesdays at 6 pm at the Assateague Welcome Center and Saturdays at 7:30 Am at the Bagel And… in Ocean Pines. Many members meet through out the week and will post when and where on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/oceancityrunningclub.
Our club has outstanding benefits for our members. In addition to our biweekly runs, we receive a discount for all OC Tri-Running events, member only events at local sports stores throughout the year, and free amenities at many events. While membership has its benefits, we welcome all runners, regardless of membership status. Throughout the summer, vacationers join our runs and we have some locals that meet up from time to time. Our official weekly run times can be found at www.oceancityrunningclub.com. And don’t forget to join our Facebook page. We welcome members and nonmembers to the page. Sometimes, a quick visit to the page is all the motivation I need to get up and out the door.
Do you need inspiration to run?
