We’re excited to share that Client Advisor Brooke Nugent successfully earned the RiskPRO Contractors Risk Professional (CRP) certification. The certification is awarded to insurance professionals who have completed a course of focused training, including contract and policy analysis, as well as exploring property and liability exposures using real-world case studies.
We caught up with her this week to DIG deeper:
Q. What’s the best thing about your experience earning the CRP?
Brooke: The training allows me to bring a deeper, more specialized understanding of construction risks to my clients. It helps me be more proactive in identifying exposures upfront and more strategic in structuring coverage that actually aligns with how contractors operate day-to-day.
It also strengthened my understanding of the different coverage forms and how specific wording can directly impact a claim when it matters most, which allows me to be more thoughtful and intentional when building and reviewing programs.
Q: Before joining Deeley in July 2021, you served with Associated Builders and Contractors – Chesapeake Shores as their Lower Shore Regional Membership Manager. How does this new certification build on your experience there?
Brooke: At ABC, I focused on bringing contractors together and helping grow a strong network of industry professionals. That gave me a great perspective on the challenges they’re facing and what’s most important to them across the board. The CRP training takes that understanding a step further by connecting those conversations and insights to more advanced risk management strategies, so I can better support my clients with solutions that are both practical and tailored to how they actually operate.
Q: Any revelations or surprises during this deep dive?
Brooke: One of the biggest takeaways was just how interconnected everything is – contracts, insurance requirements, safety practices, and claims outcomes all influence each other more than most people realize. It reinforced how important it is to look at a client’s program holistically, rather than reviewing one piece at a time.
Working with contractors has given me a real appreciation for how complex their world is – multiple parties on every project, tight timelines, evolving jobsite conditions, and increasing contractual demands. I’ve learned that what they value most is clarity, responsiveness, and having someone who truly understands how coverage fits into their daily operations, not just at renewal time.
Q: What’s next for you?
Brooke: I’m always looking for ways to continue growing in this space. The CRP designation is a great step, and continuing education is a big part of my role — to keep learning so I can consistently bring fresh insights, better solutions and more value to my clients.
