As I prepare myself and preteen child to eventually hand over the car keys, I will also be counseling my mother on when and how to take those keys away.
The KIDS
Our Real Life Situations on our website has great tips for parents whose teens will drive soon. This is an exciting time for teenagers who are experiencing new independence and freedoms.
The PARENTS
This is a challenging time for our parents. It is difficult for the caregivers as well. The Hartford has offered some sound advice for how to start conversations with our parents about driving. Delaware has a program for Senior Drivers including a self assessment test and reaction time driving games. These are great tools for the young and old alike. In Maryland there is a Medical Advisory Board Review that can help determine driver ability for people who suffer with Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, dementia,
or have had a stroke. Click here for more information or to self
report.

Thanks for reading. Are you part of the growing sandwich generation? What tips are you sharing with your kids & parents? Or, just for fun, what is your
favorite sandwich?
