Warm weather is here and it’s time for residents to cool down in the pool! Community Associations Institute reminds us that this time of year could be extremely stressful if good pool rules aren’t in place.
Community association board members and managers need to make sure their pool rules are effective and enforced. Be sure to cover everything from guests, children, swimwear, slides, diving boards, smoking and cellphones. Reminders also should be sent, and new residents should be briefed on the policies.
Need help writing the rules? Check out the 3 basic principles that CAI provides:
- The board must have sufficient rule-making authority in its governing documents. Rules must be duly adopted at a board meeting and, once passed, they must be published and distributed to association members before they are enforced,
- The rule must be reasonable, and it must relate to a legitimate purpose. It should be a good response to the problem being addressed.
- The rule must be uniformly enforced.
