As the frost melts and the daffodils bloom, everyone starts dreaming of sitting by or in the pool!
This year, Maryland tried again to update rules and regulations regarding swimming pool operations, but ultimately, the rules remain the same.
In Maryland, rules are established by Department of Health and Mental Hygiene – Code of Maryland Regulations 10.17.01 Public Swimming Pools and Spas. These codes are enforced by each county’s health department. In Delaware, Department of Health and Social Services: Division of Public Health: Health Systems Protection 4464 Public Swimming Pools outlines necessary regulations.
Don’t forget that many regulations deal with things outside of your pool management company’s control, including:
- Fencing
- Self-closing and locking gates
- Operation of phone lines to 911 phones
- Equipment room doors that can properly close and lock
- Water fountains
If you’re out to get an early start – get your property inspection going and make sure everything is in good working order.
