Starting on January 1, 2015 Workers’ Compensation in Maryland will experience additional changes.
This is the third year of changes to the experience mod
calculations. A company’s experience mod helps to determine the rates charged by insurance carriers for Worker’s Compensation insurance.
Claims filed will have a new higher threshold of $15,000 in the primary layer prior to moving to excess coverage. More claim dollars will be reported in
the primary layer of insurance. This change could cause rate changes to employers.
The best way to keep workers compensation rates low is to have safe work places. Chesapeake Employers offers an array of safety services to employers. They also offer personal consultation
from safety and loss prevention services.
