The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has been busy revamping the rules and regulations associated with swimming pools and spas. The new regulations have been open to comment for approximately a year. The final comments are coming in now.
It is a bold endeavor to get the locally run health departments to have a universal code enforcement process. It is needed as pools in some jurisdictions are not as tightly scrutinized as others and the Maryland regulations should be enforced universally.
The codes is now including aquatic facilities and venues. The increase in splash parks and larger swim/play facilities are being constructed it will be good to have best management practices available.
