Last month, the FMCSA announced a new final rule, effective Aug. 8, 2016, that will require passengers riding in large commercial trucks to wear seat belts whenever the vehicles are operating on public roads and engaged in interstate commerce. Under the final rule, motor carriers and drivers will be responsible for ensuring that their passengers wear seat belts.
