The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) was authorized for a five year period that ended on September 30th. Since then there has been three short-term extensions. Currently the program expires on January 19th.

Although we are happy that the program has not lapsed, we need Congress to give us a long term authorization. If you are pleased with the program or think it needs changing, please contact your Senators and Representatives and express your concerns about the validity of the program.
