Ocean City proudly states that it is the White Marlin Capital of the World. In my estimation, it is the Miniature Golf Capital of the World.
I stepped in to the 69th street location with two of my dearest small friends. The indoor course is filled with sea creatures, caves,
submarines, and those little eyes lit up with excitement at all the large displays. Then we get to the golf.
Our youngest player (4 years old) got a quick lesson on holding the club, facing the right direction, and trying to hit just your ball – not the ball
closest to you. She was an amazingly fast learner. I myself got not one but two – hole in ones! While everyone was super impressed, I also got some 5’s and
6’s. The course is fun but not always easy.
Despite all the fun, there is much educational value in miniature golf. Like:
- Hand eye coordination – getting the ball in the hole is a pretty important part of the game.
- Math – you have to calculate the score and ours were pretty high.
- Taking turns – especially with young ones this is a vital lesson.
- Good sportsmanship – when you get a 13 and your older sister says it is a 5 – you know you have parented properly.
