At Deeley Group we are a family, and in a family you motivate each other. We recently held a wellness challenge with the goal of earning stand-up desks. Each employee who chose to participate set their own personal goal to meet by the end of the quarter. We hold our core values closely – Achieve through Determination, Seek a Greater Purpose and Do More with Less are just a few of the values we cling to. With these values in mind, we encouraged one another to reach and exceed our goals.
Achieving through Determination speaks for itself, and many of our employees choose goals that were challenging but in no sense impossible. Each goal had the intention of improving one's health and Seeking a Greater Purpose. Our goal with the wellness challenge was not only to encourage friendly competition in the office, but to take advantage of the time and space we have to Do More with Less.
Goals ranged from drinking more water daily to exercising five times a week. Many of the goals set by the staff could be achieved while at work. After the challenge was over, those that successfully met their goal earned a stand-up desk. Employees become more active at stand-up desks compared to traditional desks. Studies show that healthy habits (like standing instead of sitting) improves mood, boosts energy and improves longevity – which is your lifespan!
Since we are constantly upgrading our workflow, this time we decided to improve our work environment with the new stand-up desks. These desks can be used sitting or standing. Standing desks are proven to lower the risk of weight gain and obesity, heart disease, back pain and even high blood sugar. On top of all the health benefits, they boost productivity which is great for both our company and our clients. Now your insurance professionals are even more energetic and eager to help you with all of your insurance needs!
If this wasn't mind-blowing enough, listen to some of our employees. Sarah Witkowski, Life & Health Account Executive, shares, “It allows me to think outside the box. When I'm standing I get more involved in my work.” Kerry Runkes, Personal Lines Manager, states that she is grateful for the opportunity to care about her physical well being while in the office. Kasi Queen, Client Relations Agent, says standing helps her posture and prevents her shoulders from being sore.
Investing in stand-up desks has been a very successful and beneficial project that has much more of an impact than just an average piece of office furniture!
