Recently Kendis Paris, CEO and Co-Founder of Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT), a 501©3 non-profit organization, came to Maryland to speak about the organization. It was quite shocking to find how many US born citizens are victims of human trafficking in our country. It truly is modern-day slavery.
The trucking industry is in a position where we can make a huge difference to combat against human trafficking. Our industry of 7 million covers the entire United States. Many of the traffickers use truck stops and rest areas for quick money. TAT has developed a free and simple awareness program to educate our community on how we can help. Investing as little as 15 minutes of your time is all you need to get started. At of the end of the third quarter 2016, truckers had made 1534 calls with 471 likely cases of trafficking involving 992 victims. So far 280,000 people have registered on the TAT website as being TAT trained.
Here is an opportunity for you to make a positive difference by just increasing your awareness. Please take a moment to visit their website at www.TruckersAgainstTrafficking.org to learn more.
