Courtesy of Great West Casualty Company, our Transportation Department would like to share the Truck Driver's 10 Commandments of the Road:
- Conduct a thorough pre-trip inspection of brakes, lights, tires, and other equipment before, and again periodically during, the trip.
- Park all personal problems at the curb when starting to drive.
- Observe all state laws, and respect laws of nature governing momentum, deceleration, centrifugal force and gravity.
- Watch out for pedestrians, children and school buses.
- Do not tailgate. Keep enough distance between you and the vehicle ahead.
- Always yield the right of way.
- Never be under the influence of alcoholic beverages, narcotics, amphetamines or other dangerous drugs while driving.
- Don't fight sleep. If drowsy, get off the road and take a short rest.
- Drive so that your vehicle is under control at all times.
- Respect all other motorists on the road.
