Have you woken up in the night to the chirping of a smoke detector whose battery is low. It chirps consistently every few minutes, and when you locate which smoke detector is chirping you will not have the necessary 9-volt battery to change it that evening or worse, it would take a 9 foot ladder to reach the device.
There are all kinds of smoke detector devices that are smart devices that can be monitored remotely, but they come at a price.
A new device called Roost is on the market that can not only notify your smart phone when the alarm goes off but when the battery is low. Roost claims to be easy to install and requires no tools or wireless network access. It costs $34.99.
