The Department of Transportation has just adopted a ruled that Electronic Stability Controls (ESC) will be required on heavy trucks and large buses
exceeding 26,000 pounds in gross weight. Compliance dates range from two to four years depending on the vehicle type and weight.
There are staggering statistics on how this technology will promote safety. Estimates are as high as 50 lives per year can be saved.
The controls have been placed in new trucks since 2012. The cost of retrofitting vehicles with the new controls remains a concern for most in the
transportation industry.
