Congratulations to the Rackliffe House Trust that was awarded the 2015 Partner Award from the Governor’s Maryland State Park Advisory Commission. The award recognizes the outstanding partnership between the restoration project and the continued support of Assateague State Park.
Rackliffe House is a 1740’s merchant-planter’s home overlooking Assateague Island and the Sinepuxent Bay. Withstanding the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812 and the Civil War the house stands today. The Rackliffe House Trust and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources are responsible for restoring and maintaining this piece of history that now serves as a coastal museum that interprets 18th– century life along Maryland’s seaside.
