The unseasonably warm weather has confused the Daffodils and the Forsythia. Spring flowers have started to sprout in February. Although, we worry that a good freeze will kill off the first blooms, we can’t help but be excited to think of future plantings!
The Maryland Coastal Bays Program released a great list of native plants to the county. These items natively grow in this area and typically do well when planting. Info includes Herbaceous species, grasses, shrubs and trees. Six garden centers that can help you find plants and flowers that are good for your soil, will grow with low maintenance, and are good for the environment and watershed are also noted.
It may not be wise to plant just yet, but we can start to plan! Landscaping improvements can increase your home value, lower mosquito population, and provide additional privacy to your home. Enjoy dreaming of spring! Thanks for reading.
