I need my smart phone to make daily tasks more convenient. And now, technology experts believe that “smart homes” can do the same thing for my house and my family.
Electrical outlets, lightbulbs, smoke detectors and more, are now available with networking and sensor technology similar to smartphones. A smart device uses your home’s Wi-Fi network or a Bluetooth connection to provide additional safety or convenience features.
For example, I can use an app on my smart phone to change the heat in my house and or dim the lights. Smart thermostats can sense that your pipes are in danger of freezing and send an alert to your phone. These smart devices can work individually, or they can be networked together to enhance their capabilities.
I am using my phone to arm and disarm the security system in my building at work and to check the heat in several key locations.
